So, Who Are We?

Newcastle University runs a competitive and social program offering something for all types of students with different levels of experience and time commitments. The club has teams in the BUCS and local leagues and also offers competitive opportunities in Newcastle’s PSL team (National League). A club night on a Friday is on offer for players who are just looking for a friendly hit and various social activities across the year bring everyone together.

Why Consider Newcastle?

The squash club has a full-time level 3 squash coach in Liam Gutcher; a former professional player and senior county champion. Along with support staff from strength and conditioning, bespoke training plans are delivered to performance teams and scholars so players can maximise their potential. All matches and fixtures are played at the brand new £30 million sport centre in the city campus offering four glass back squash courts and a state of the art conditioning suite.

How To Get Involved

Opportunities to get into coaching are available for qualified students in the inter-mural program ran by the Athletic Union and in the junior academy which is ran at the Northumberland Club, Jesmond. Sport scholarships are available for talented squash players at a junior county level or above who could make a significant impact on the current BUCS teams.
